GK Update 5 June 2015

1. Union government has signed a loan agreement with World Bank to provide $400 million loan to TamilNadu for sustainable development.
2. Today is World Environment Day which is aimed to create awareness to protect Earth. The theme for this year is Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care. The host country for 2015 is Italy.


3. Delhi Metro gets its first driver less train from Republic of South Korea. Equipped with all advanced features, this is going to be operational from December 2016. It can accommodate 2280 passengers due to absence of driver cabin.
4. India's Sundaram Ravi was inducted to ICC Elite Panel of Umpires. He is the first Indian after S. Venkataraghavan to be inducted. He along with New Zealand's Chriss Gaffaney were promoted.
5. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Oil Spill Response Centre for Mumbai Port Trust, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and ONGC facilities to reduce pollution and oil spillage.
6. Infosys appointed R. Seshasayee as the Non executive chairman of the board as KV Kamath will be stepping down from the post of Chairman due to his appointment to BRICS Bank.
7. Parupalli Kashyap stunned World Number 1 Chen Long to enter the Men semifinals of Indonesian Open Super Series Championship.
