GK Update 18 May 2015

1. PM Narendra Modi who is on a foreign trip reached South Korea today. India today signed seven bilateral agreements with South Korea. Seven MoUs were signed between the two nations including those on avoidance of double taxation, energy, road design and management, audio visual co-production and maritime transport and logistics. 
2. The National Green Tribunal today increased the deadline for the withdrawal of diesel vehicle which are more than 10 years old. NGT had earlier banned the petrol vehicle in the capital city from November 26 last year.
3. Government will soon impose a separate set of law in order to restrict sewage disposal to river Ganga and penalize the people who are found guilty.
4. HDFC Bank has partnered with Apollo Hospitals to launch 'HDFC Bank Apollo Medical Benefits Card'
which allows corporates to easily disburse medical allowance to their employees, saving time and cost.

5. Aruna Shanbaug, a former nurse in KEM hospital who was raped by a ward boy 42 years ago died today. The 66-year-old was battling  pneumonia and was on ventilator support, King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital sources said. 
6. Novak Djokovic captured his fourth Rome Masters Tennis title with a convincing 6-4, 6-3 win over Roger Federer. Russian Maria Sharapova ground down Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 to win the women's title.
7. Australian player Brad Haddin announced retirement from ODI cricket before leaving for tour of England and West Indies.
