GK Update 6 May 2015

1. Goods and Services Bill was passed today in Lok Sabha even after Congress walked out. The bill was supported by 52 members while 38 opposed it. By this most indirect taxes levied by the central and state governments regime has proposed to facilitate a common market in the country.
2. Salman Khan was sentenced to five years of jail today by the Bombay session's court for the Hit and Run case in 2002 which killed 1 and injured 4 people. The actor was then applied for bail to the Bombay High Court which said he cannot be arrested till Friday. The actor is also under trial for shooting a Black Buck in 1998.

 
3. A Special Court today summoned Industrialist Naveen Jindal and ex Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda as accused in the coal block allocation case. They are asked to appear before it on 22nd of this month.
4. Power equipment maker BHEL has commissioned GVK group's hydro electric project in Uttarakhand.
5. Rajya Sabha today unanimously adopted the Constitutional Amendment Bill for the exchange between India and Bangladesh.
6. Akash missiles have replaced the obsolete air defence systems in the Indian Army. It has a range of 25km. 

7. India beat Japan 2-0 in the second match of the four match Test series in Bhubaneswar. The first match had ended in a draw.
8. Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea entered the second round of the Madrid Open Tennis tournament.
