GK Update 8 May 2015

1. David Cameron has won the general elections of the United Kingdom as the Conservative Party swept by garnering 51% of the total national vote in the election. The Labor Party managed to garner 31% of the vote share. Many international politicians congratulated him for his win.
2.Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been granted bail after he furnished fresh bail bond of 30000 INR. He was sentenced to 5 years of jail term by Bombay Sessions Court on Wednesday. The next hearing date will be fixed on 15th June and next hearing will take place in July.
3. The RBI has brought up a new mechanism on checking the loan frauds. A Central Fraud registry would be set up where banks can have a look at who have committed fraud in any banks before sanctioning loans.
4. Over 38 lakhs account have been opened under the Sukanya Samridhi Yojana at various post offices across the country.
5. Delhi High Court has fixed May 23 on pronouncing order on match fixing charges in IPL 6.
6. Six persons including envoy of Norway and Phillipines carried in a Mi-17 helicopter crashed in the Gilgit-Balitistan area of Pakistan. Pak PM has expressed grief over the incident.
7. PM Narendra Modi will launch two social security schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) for the unfortunate incidents and Atal Pension Yojana for old age persons in Kolkata.
8. Jitan Ram Manjhi, The expelled JDU leader, forms a new party Hindustan Awam Morcha.
9. Jitu Rai won the best sportsperson in the TOISA awards while Jeev Milkha Singh received the Lifetime Achievement Award. 
10. Indian Hockey team defeated Japan 2-1 to take the lead to 2-0 in the four match hockey test series.
11. Yamaha India today launched a 113cc scooter "Fascino" in an attempt to strengthen its scooter line up.
