GK Update 9 May 2015

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated three social security scheme under Jan Surakshya programme at a function organised at Kolkata. The insurance schemes - Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and one pension scheme- Atal Pension Yojana.
2. The President of India attended today The Victory Day Parade in Moscow which marks the victory of Russians over the Nazis. A 70 member Indian Army also took part in the parade.
3. Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel today handed over the INS Sardar Patel to the Indian Navy at Porbandar which will increase the security across the western border.
4. National Green Tribunal has imposed monthly tax to all household in Delhi in order to clean up Yamuna. It will be proportional to property and water tax.
5. Two people were killed after a MIG-27 aircraft crashed near Tantapara village. 
6. Axis Bank has introduced Ping Pay a innovative instant money transfer phenomenon which enables user to transfer money across various social media platforms.
7. Former England captain Andrew Strauss has been appointed as the director of England Cricket team. Present coach Peter Moores has been sacked down from the post.
8. Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea have reached the doubles quarterfinals of the Madrid Open but Sania Mirza and Leander Paes have faced defeat.
9. Sakshi Malik and Lalita won the bronze medal for 60kg and 55kg freestyle event while Babita Kumari has lost in the 53kg division of the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship held in Doha.
